Breaking the veil between two worlds

Mediumship
Man has always held onto the hope that there is something more after the death of the physical body. To think that there is finality in death has terrified millions of individuals, yet ancient civilizations have always had an inclination there was more. They believed it is a heavenly realm where good men, women and children go. No one could have imagined there was a life after death and that communication within our realm could take place between the living and the dead through the mediumship of a medium. It has now become a science of its own and a new science has emerged from this mediumship phenomenon. In our modern day world, scientists are expanding the boundaries of consciousness and science as they begin to tread upon the realm of the spirit.

Therefore, the belief is that life continues with the same personality and traits after the death of the physical body, and that we have an innate intuitive power, which, when developed, can enhance the way we live within the material realm. It is an interaction between spirit and earthly existence. It is the duty of mediums to offer the evidence that supports this hypothesis. The medium, then, is the conduit between these two worlds, and is still to this day largely unaccepted by humanity. Many mediums are constantly under attack and will continue to be, I suppose this is just the nature of things. This is man’s inhumanity to man – lack of compassion, understanding and forgiveness.

What is a Psychic Medium?

A Psychic Medium has one job and one only and that is to proove the existence of life after death - to bring comfort to the bereaved and grief stricken Individuals. A psychic medium works for God and the spirit world. Very often psychic's and mediums are in the firing line because of the work we do.
The gift of mediumship is sacred and all psychic mediums should work with the highest of intentions, remain professional and ethical.

Types of Mediumship

What type of psychic medium will you be? You can’t be a Jack-of-all-trades. There are many expressions of mediumship and you may become adept in a few of them, but not all. For instance, someone may express his or her particular gift through art - being able to draw the communicator when the connection is made. You may be able to demonstrate high levels of mental mediumship, or be adept at trance channeling, which many claim they do, but are certainly not trance channels. You may later develop other forms of mediumship that will be expressed after you have been in service for a considerable time. You may even develop physical mediumship at some point in your service.

Physical mediumship is the ability to become a channel for spirit to materialize in the material world and give various forms of evidence. You could develop direct voice, which is another form of physical mediumship, or you could be like the great Harry Edwards and use your gift for healing purposes of a medical, physical, and mental nature. Nevertheless, you must realize there are many expressions of mediumship.

Mediums & Communication

I am sure all of you by now know how we as mediums communicate, and this is also something that I am passionate about. However, many mediums unfortunately are a little misguided, and I know this comes from their ego - they claim the communication they are having with the spirit is better than it actually is, which provides a sort of false sense of security to the grief-stricken individual. This happens a great deal when the medium is on the rostrum and it offers a kind of false sense of safety and purpose to the sitter. It is a pet hate of mine when a medium claims they see the spirit person standing or sitting next to the client. If this were the case, the medium would be able to offer irrefutable evidence of an aesthetic nature and therefore quell the idle talk from skeptical onlookers. Medium’s, who claim they are receiving clear communication, as if you and I were speaking, are also misleading their sitters and readers.

The truth is that 95% of mediums ‘see’ subjectively, and therefore communicate in a subjective nature whether through seeing, hearing, or feeling. These are the main methods of communication and of course, one must be able to discern the quality of the messages. I always try to ensure that spirit will give me enough evidence that can be validated much later, and therefore be evidence that can also be thought of as scientific in nature. If the sitter cannot validate the information instantly, and they have to investigate family information, events or dates - If the information turns out to be 100% accurate - it is difficult for even a skeptic to refute. It is easy enough to describe a communicator that would fit millions of other’s and the person who is suffering in their grief will make the information fit. For instance, if a medium offers a description such as an old man with a walking cane who passed with a heart condition – many could make that fit and that is often the case. Real evidence is different and would include more, not necessarily a description. Let’s look at an example, which was validated.

“I have your father here, I believe his name is Robert or he is giving me Robert as someone attached, but was known as
pop to the family. He tells me he passed suddenly in his garden at around two in the afternoon. He gives me the 13th of September as an anniversary and tells me to mention Murray or Murphy Street or close. He is letting me know that he was with you yesterday when you were in the department store and picked up a pair of brown shoes that you were initially going to buy and then changed your mind”.

This information may sound silly to some but evidence is a very personal thing and what may seem stupid may be the best survival evidence that you can give. There is nothing in the statement that is general and some things are very personal to the sitter. You see evidence of afterlife from a psychic medium is open to interpretation and is personal. The truth is that one person’s evidence may be completely unacceptable to others but irrefutable to them.

The three facets of mediumship that we will discuss in other pages are:
